Walnut Creek is a city located in the beautiful San Francisco Bay Area, stretching into San Ramon valley and Ygnacio Valley below Mount Diablo.
The city is well known for its arts and entertainment culture. The Civics Arts Program provides classes on graphic arts, pottery, sculpture and performance arts. The Clay Arts Guild provides classes on ceramic arts. Some points of interest include the California Symphony which has been based in Walnut Creek since 1986. The Center Repertory Company is a theater company for the Lesher Center for the Arts. The Lesher Center for the Arts includes several performance spaces including The Knight Stage 3, The Hoffman, The Margaret Lesher Theatres and the Bedford Gallery. Other notable points of interest include Mount Diablo, Heather Farm Park,Old Borges Ranch and the Shadelands Ranch Museum. The city has five public school districts featuring fifteen public schools as well as ten private schools.
The climate is cool during the winter, averaging around the mid-50s, and hot during the summer, averaging in the high 80s. It’s not uncommon to see the temperature break the 100 degree mark during the summer. The weather is excellent for cultivation as it is warm enough to grow citrus trees yet cool enough to grow apple trees. Another notable attraction is the Ruth Bancroft Garden, which features nearly every type of plant that can be grown in this climate.
